VIGIL FOR ALL NASCENT HUMAN LIFE

EVENING PRAYER

People of ALL FAITHS are invited to join in this worldwide simultaneous prayer

Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart

November 27, 2010 at 8:30 pm

His Eminence Daniel Cardinal DiNardo presiding

On Saturday, November 27, Pope Benedict XVI will open the new liturgical year by celebrating a Vigil for All Nascent Human Life at St. Peter’s Basilica. The pope has requested that “all diocesan bishops (and their equivalent) of every particular church preside in analogous celebrations involving the faithful in their respective parishes, religious communities, associations and movements.”

“Nascent human life is under attack in a myriad of ways,” said Deirdre McQuade, assistant director for policy and communications at the Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities. “In the United States alone, over 50 million unborn children have lost their lives to abortion since Roe v. Wade.”  In addition to abortion, “embryonic stem cell research kills human beings at their earliest stages in the name of science. Reproductive technologies destroy or indefinitely freeze many more lives than are ever born,” she said.

McQuade added, “This unprecedented worldwide vigil is a fitting start to Advent when we prepare for the Nativity of Jesus Christ, who gave every life its full worth and dignity.”

The Michael Berry Show

Bookmark and Share

Michael Berry has talk shows in the afternoons in Houston on AM 950 and AM 740.  Today he had multiple callers discuss abortion during his “open line Friday”.  He said pro-lifers should have the same passion for helping the children AFTER they are born that they do to protect them BEFORE they are born.  Thoughts, anyone?  Join us on facebook and you can easily join the discussion!

Calling and e-mailing radio programs is a great way to get the media to talk about abortion.  Take advantage of this opportunity with our Houston radio talk shows.  It’s an easy way to increase awareness and educate the public.  One of the callers on Michael Berry’s show today brought up the fact that Planned Parenthood was founded by a woman who supported black genocide.  This was a great educational tool!

Thoughts?

This letter was read at all Catholic Masses in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston two weekends before the election.  Any thoughts?

Please read the words of Daniel Cardinal DiNardo regarding Proposition 1: “The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston recognizes the need to make critical improvements to Houston’s infrastructure for the benefit of all the City’s residents. However, the Archdiocese has concerns about the method in which Proposition 1 (on the upcoming November ballot) will address the need for better drainage and flooding around Houston. Proposition 1 would charge all property owners fees which would go toward a dedicated fund for drainage and street repair. However, churches of many faiths often have larger tracts of land in order to accommodate parking, schools, social service facilities, and fellowship buildings. As a result, the fees [that] may be potentially assessed from Proposition 1 would have a financial impact on all the City’s religious institutes. This would be particularly burdensome on Archdiocesan parishes and schools, which would have to find ways to use limited resources to pay the proposed fees for all their property. In the Catholic tradition, responsible citizenship is a virtue. We strongly urge all Archdiocesan parishioners to register, to become informed on key issues impacting our city and state, and to vote in the upcoming election.”
